The Railway Department’s restriction limiting reservation of seats to journeys beyond a hundred miles is to ta removed on Monday, after which passengers may reserve to and from any stopping station irrespective of distance. The only trains excepted from the concession are the AucklandWellington and Wellington-Auckland limited, though under special circumstances reservations may be secured on these trains between Franktor. and Auckland and Palmerston and Wellington.
Mr T. Ei. Y. Seel don will be visiting Hokitika on Monday and at night will be present at a meeting at the Westland County Chambers where a committee will be formed to work in his interests at the elections. This mustbe the eighth political contest which M r Seddon has entered on for the Westland seat, so that he may now ta regarded ns a. veteran. Mr Seddon has been member for Westland since 1906, excepting for a three years’ break between 1922-1925. For over fifty years now the name of Seddon has been identified very closely with the political history of Westland,

As summer time comes into effect on .Sunday 14tli people, will need to remember" to put their clocks forward half an hour on Saturday night, or they will be late for church on Sunday. Summer time takes effect at 2 o’clock on Sunday morning, when clocks are to be put on half-an-hour for the period stipulated in the act. For the summer months there will be two hours’ difference in the time with Australia, and exactly twelve hours’ difference with Greenwich time. St. Paul’s Amateur Dramatic Club are now in frill swing with their preparations for the annual presentation of playettes fixed for the evening following the election. Although the removal of Miss Lynn, 8.A., was a great loss to the Club, the President has been successful in securing another helper, and with the able assistance of Misses Duff and Reid, and Messrs Bulpin and Brooks, the Rev. G. KnowMes-Smith is confident that the young people will present a programme eclipsing any previous efforts.
