AJarsden, one of Sydney’s bestknown jockeys, was disqualified for two years for his handling of Beckwith •in the Chester Handicap at Rand wick out Saturday.' The stewards expressed the opinion that Ma-rsden did not ride to win. 1 HANDICAPPER APPOINTED. DUNEDIN, Oct. 9. Eleven applications were received for tlie position of handicapper lor the spring meeting of the Forlniry Park Trotting Club at to-night’s meeting of the club. The names were reduced to two, Alessrs T. Fogg (Dunedin) and G. Paul (Auckland). A ballot resulted in a tie, and the chairman gave his casting vote in favour of, Air Fogg.
