N.S.W. BUDGET.
INCOME TAX INCREASE. ! Australian Press Assn.—United Service (Received this day at 12.25. p.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. 10. Air Bavin, New South Wales Premier, delivers the State Budget this evening. It anticipates an increase of from six to seven hundred thousand sterling from income taxation. This will be gained by an adjustment. The new rates are to be announced in a Bill to be presented to Parliament next month. It is estimated that there will be a surplus of a quarter of a mililion. SYDNEY, October 11. The Budget foreshadows financial reforms, reduction of taxation burden this year by over one million sterling, amendment of income tax, which starts at £250 for those without defendants. The estimated for the year is twenty-one millions and expenditure £20,766,000. The State public debt at 30th .June A' amounted to £245 millions, of which £1,300,000 will be extinguished this year by arrangement with the Commonwealth. The loan budget is to be introduced separately later and will provide for over fourteen millions during the current financial year, four' and a-half millions of which will be used for main roads. H SYDNEY, October IT. In addition to the estimated order cabled the railways are expected to yield £21,350,000; tramways £4,685,000, making a total of £47,791,000. The railways are anticipated to show a surplus and tramways £68,0001 The Treasurer introduced a new system of public accounts to clarify the position which was hitherto obscure: The actual deficiency for the year ended 30th June was £1,095,000 or £502,000 less than anticipated. The current year is expected to show a surplus of £194,000. •

A double drowning occurred near Taree, on the- north coast, , when , a school girl, Enid Brooks, fell into Manning River. Her teacher, Charles Evenden, attempted to rescue her, .but the girl dragged him under. Evenden was unable to swim.
