W.C.T.U. CHARGE. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). (Received this day at 10 a.m.) TORONTO, Oct. 10. Charging the liquor interests with bribing Courts of Justice and Government, Mrs Flora Haskett addressed a meeting of the Pronvineial Council of the Women’s. Christian Temperance Union. She said that the sooner the Government stores were bankrupt the quicker the Government would he successful. The liquor interests were growing so wealthy that they could buy officers and even control the Goveiinment themselves. Tim Council w ill pray for Mr Hoover’s success in the United States.
AMERICAN DEFENCE. NEW YORK, Oct, 11. A message from San Antonio states the promise that the administration was not contemplating the bringing about of any weakening of the National Defence because of the Kellogg Treaty, was given the American Legion yesterday by Secretary Davis in an address in which lie praised the purpose and the statesmanship of the documents. President Ooolidge proclaimed that religion was necessary to the continuation of the American Government, and its maintenance of liberties and privileges characteristic of American life.
