Ono of tlio original clauses in the Auctioneers Bill provided that an auctioneer must accept a bid I roin any person at an auction sale of *fruit or vegetables if that person is prepared to pay casli on the tail ( of the lnunmei. This was rejected by the House of -Representatives, as it was held that the clause could not protect vendors under conditions which were very adverse. However, the clause was put back in the Bill bv the Legislative Council, and for. several days there have been negotiations between the two Houses, in Hie hope of getting it again deleted, because the House took objection to its inculsion. It was reported on Thursday that the Legislative Council had agreed to the removal of the clause.
