TASMAN FLYERS
SOUTHERN CROSS. (By Telegraph—Press Association). BLENHEIM, October o. There is nothing much of interest to report regarding the Southern Cross. Ulm returned with Buckley late this afternoon from Christchurch. To-mor-row it is their intention to make a test flight in the big plane, and if no adverse weather report is received, the Southern Cross will take off for Australia on Sunday' morning. DEPARTURE MOST UNLIKELY. This evening’s weather report is of such a natui'e that it is most unlikely that the Southern Cross will get away for Sydney on Sunday. The Southern Cross will carry out further test flights over Blenheim tomorrow morning.
DR KIDSON’S REPORT
WELLINGTON, October 5
The prospect of the aviators starting their return trip across the Tasman are rather remote, said Dr Kidson today, and it is more likely to be about. Tuesday before the weather settles down, if then. Pressure is now very low over the Tasman, the barometer at Hobart this morning falling, at 4 o’clock as low as 28.25 inches. A strong northerly' gale to northwesterly winds reaching to gale force in places, still prevail between New Zealand and ( Australia.
