(By Telegraph—Press Association). THE COUNCIL. WELLINGTON, October 6. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. yesterday. The Land Loans Amendment Bill was reported from the House and put through all stages and passed. Municipal Corporations Amendment Bill was passed with amendments after further consideration in committee. Progress was reported on the Motor Vehicles Insurance (third party risks) Bill and Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Amendment Bill and Opticians Bill were reported , without amendment. The Council adjourned at 4.30 until 11 a.m. to-day. THE HOUSE. The House of Representatives met ;it 2.30 and spent the greater part of the day in discussing the Railway Amendment Bill ’ appointing Mr Sterling as General Manager and restoring him his lost period of superannuation. The Leader of tile Opposition moved as ail amendment that all railway servants with broken time should have their superannuation restored-but this was defeated by 41 to 17, and the bill was put through all stages and passed. SUMMER TIME. By Governor-General’s message, the Summer Time Bill No. 2 was introduced. The bill advances standard time for half an hour frorn the 2nd Sunday in October till the 3rd Sunday in March and passed all stages. • Auckland Transport Bill was read a second time. The House rose >at 2.40 a.m. till 11 a.m. to-day. V
