ST ANDREW’S SALE OF WORK
The annual sale of work was held yesterday in St. Andrew’s Hall and despite the very wet day passed off very successfully. Quite a number of people from the country were prevented from attending, and a • good deal of work was left unsold and it has been decided to hold a small fair some afternoon in about six weeks time to dispose of what is left. The following were the various stalls with the 'nameS.' of those in charge:— Plain and Fancy Work-—Mrs Moore, Mrs G. Anderson, and Mrs Hayward. Aprons—Mrs McCarthy, Mrs Goodfellow, and Mrs Johnson. . - v Siuga rbags, oveneloths,. etc.-—Mrs Preston/Audrey Baird, and . Lily Linklater. Produce —Mrs A. B. King, Mrs J. King and Mrs Parkhill. Cakea—Mrs Urquhart and Miss Potts. ~ Flowers—Misses M. Goudie, J. Davidson, D. Stevenson, and M. Maunder. Sweets—Misses E. Rutliven, M. Thompson, and H. King. Jellies and Fruit Salads—Misses D. McWhirter, M. Blank, J. Hayward, 11. Ridland, F. Thompson and P. Maunder. Fish-ponJ—Miss McLeod, and .Misses M. and E. Robinson. W 1 Hoop-Ja—Allan Parkhill, and Norman Rowe. J, Afternoon Tea—Mesdames Blank, Rowe, Huxford, Watson and Urquhart'. . v 'j‘ Mrs H. A. Thompson, the secretary,. had, a. busy afternoon with the various stallholders. L, The sale .was opened at 2 o’clock by the Rev. J. W. Hayward congratulated the ladies on the excellent display. Special mention was made of the very beautiful daffodils given by Mr Spiers, of Kumara, and staged by him, of which there were about 120 varieties of lovely blooms. Mr Hayward hoped they would not be downhearted about the weather as they would probably find at the close of the day they had made about £350.
