EVERYBODYS PICTURES. “GALLOPING FURY’* FRIDAY. Back in the clays when Edmund R. (Hoot) Gibson was a little boy just learning the four R’s on his father’s ranch he dreamed of actually, being the hero of a Peter B. Kyne story. In those days, the four R’s were readin’, ’ritin’, ’rtihmetic, and ridin’. Despite all these adolescent dreams of being a hero, Hoot probably never had the faintest notion that he would ever enact the leading role in a story written bv his favourite'author. But Hoot Gibson, the great Western star, will be at the Princess Theatre on Friday in “ Galloping Fury,” a Western special from Kyne’s ‘‘The Tidy Toreador,” which recently appeared in a big national magazine. Hoot was born in Yeramah, Nebraska, .on his father’s ranch. At an early age he became a .daring rider and left home a little later to rove, stopping off for a time to Oregon where he entered the Pen dleton Roundup. That year he won ‘the all-round championship and decided to try motion pictures. So he arrived in Hollywood on horseback, to be greeted with the usual icy stare. But Hoot set out to get work and got i< as a Universal ranch rider, a- cowboy extra. After a few years he became a featured player in two reclers, then a tivo-reel star .and then a featuie stai. , Finally as the last step, his Western starring vehicles were put in a special class called Gibson specials; fmei stories were bought: better suppoxting casts used and production values increased. so, that Gibson pictures the most popular. in the Western fRI ’ to-day. Gibson’s supporting cast includes Sally Rand. Otis Harlan, Frank Peal, Ed Coxen, Duke R. Lee. Pewee Holmes, Black Hawk and Max Ascher Reaves Eason directed.

It is said that the-incidents in the famous book are faithfully presented in the play, particularly the scenes at the “ Stag and Hunt” inn, where the shortage of bedrooms make it necessary for Peter Wykeham and Mrs Hickett to share the one bedroom. ‘‘The dramatist-lias shown,” wrote a Sydney critic; in bis treatment of this screamingly humourous situation, that it is quite (possible to write a bedroom scene without , becoming offensive.” The principal members of the new company: ...displayed the fact in “••Rookery 1-Nook/’ that they are all masters of the - ait of farce-comedy and ciitics in Australia declared that they are all seen to the very greatest advantage ill “A Cuckoo in the Nest.
