FIREMEN IN COURT. INVERCARGILL, Oct. 1. At Bluff to-day the police made a search of the Port Napier and the Manuka for stolen property. As a result. several firemen appeared before Mr W. B. Dixon, J.P., and Mr J. S, A. M’Dougall, J.P., to answer charges. Edward James and Charles Arnold, firemen on the Manuka, were charged with receiving goods valued at £2O from some person unknown. Each was convicted and fined £lO with costs 10s. Henry James Montgomery, charged with stealing six one-pound tins of milk, was fined £1 and costs, while "William Taylor Whitaker, for receiving them, was fined an equal amount. It was stated that the goods were stolen from the Port Napier.
