Tlie Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. Sir Robert Stout was granted leave of absence for the remainder of the session on account of illness. The Companies’ Amendment Bill, Maintenance Orders (facilities for enforcement) " Amendment Bill, Motor Spirits Taxation Amendment Bill, Municipal Corporations Amendment Bill, Public Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Rill and Public Works Bill were received from the House. fi The Companies’ Amendment Bill was passed. A clause that provided that shares of deceased shareholders in a company may he transferred without, production of probate or letters of administration being deleted, as too complicated to operate, satisfactorily. Maintenance Orders (facilities for enforcement) Amendment Bill, Motor Spirits Taxation Amendment Bill (with minor amendments) and Public Works Bill were put through all stages and passed. Progress was reported on the Municipal Corporations Amendment Bill, after brief discussion in committee, and tlie Public Reserves, Domains and National Parks Bill were read a firsttime, a second time pro forma, and referred to the Lands Committee. The Council adjourned at 4.53 p.m. until 2.30 p.m. THE HOUSE. The House of Representatives passed through all stages tlie Education Reserves Bill. Main Highways Amendment Bill. Auckland Grammar Schoo 1 Amendment ' Bill and State Fire Insurance Bill. The Prime Minister indicated lie did not now think the session would end liefore Tuesday or Wednesday. QUESTIONS. Replying to Mr Parry the Hon. R. A. "Wright |said the committee appointed by the Hon G. J. Anderson to inquire into various questions related to the handling of basic slag had reported that if their recommendations were adopted no new legislation would he required as the present law provided all necessary powers.
