BODY IN HARBOUR

WELLINGTON. Oct. 2. The body of Jas. Wright, a cabinetmaker, aged 56 years, was found floating in the. harbour off Clyde Qhay . wharf. The deceased was reported missing from his home, No. 16 Earl’s Terrace. INQUEST ON MOTOR VICTIM. -STRAY HORSES BLAMED. ROTORUA, Oct. 2. The Coroner’s Court, before Mr W. L. Richards, J.P., and a jury of four, was occupied all day on the adjourned "Inquest on Hare Wirikake, who died as the result of injuries received by the capsizing of a Public Works lorry on Whakatane Road on September 10. Mr W. Gillies’ (Hamilton) watched the case on behalf of the Public Works Department. Pohimiro’s evidence was given that the three occupants of the lorry were .going out to a Public Works road repairing job. They Were to have leftill %b,e early morning, but did not late in the afternoon. They spent; griuch of the day visiting various Public houses. Tlie- evidence of the driver of the lorry ..showed that the accident was caused by swerving to ’avoid some stray horses, and witnesses testimonial to liis sober condition after the accident. ! 1 The Coroner stressed the danger of stray horses, which have become a menace to human life. The verdict was that deceased met liis death by the overturning of a lorry, no blame being attachable to the driver, and the Court added a strong rider that" the County Council’s attention be drawn to the danger of stray horses , on the public highways.
