GAME FOR FOWLER CUP. On Saturday afternoon Cass Square was in perfect order for football when the game for the : Fowler Clip took place between Excelsiors and Kiwi senior teams. Tlie first spell went without .score the play being somewhat in favour of the Excelsiors, the game being fast and willing. In the second half there was a considerable amount cf feeling shown, and the referee towards the last quarter of an hour ordered off two players, one oh each side who were' having a boxing set to. A little later Tainui bad the misfortune to put his shoulder out and had to leave the field. Near the end of tlie game another Kiwi player lost his temper at being solidly tackled and lashed out with his fish at an opponent striking him on the mouth. This also caught the referee’s eye and the player was promptly ordered off. About half-way through the spell Stevenson opened the scoring for Excelsiors with a nice penalty goal, and from thence on Excelsiors were in the ascendant, Thompson, Hughes, and Maxwell " added tries, one of which Stevenson converted and the game ended in a victory for Excelsiors by 14 points (three tries, one converted and a penalty goal) to nil. Mr A. Cutbush was referee.

THE SHRIMPS. ■During the interval of the senior game the School shrimps played off their game. The first five minutes ended without score Convent attacking most of the time. In the second spell the State School had the best of the play and just before the call of time R. Roberts went away with a fine run to score a good try, the game ending in a win- for State School by three points to nil. Mr S. Moore was referee.
