The most eensatonal. development, of the Grand Jury investigation into bootlegging and gang warfare came, when the, allegation of police, corruption was made at midnightfTwith the arrest of a poljbe;-baptain And twmty-twoi policenrlbh : oh charge of extortion', .-bribery >and corruption. :< - Among the prisoners are .seven sergeants and to Oily Hall detectives. The police captain is Charles-(UQheh.| | The :> prisoners were taken 'into custody outside, the. office "of: District Attorney 1 Monogran \ wherd ; they - were under examination for four hours. All have been placed in cells at the City Hall, awaiting a hearing before Judge Lewis, who ordered the investigation.
Two other police captains . and half a dozen city detectives, also Matthew Patterson, Republican Organisation Ward leader, and member of the Pennsylvania House of Repesentatives were arrested. .- y . .
