WARNING BY MASTER BUILDERS. DUNEDIN, September 25. A great deal of discussion is taking piaee among active members of the Dunedin Master Builders’ Association at the present time, over the ever recurring problem of the faulty construction of dwellings, by irresponsible persons who style themselves builders and are accepted as such by people who are ignorant of the dangers arising Iron: faulty ddsign and inferior workmanship.

“ New Zealand’s, reputation in respect to fires,” says a statement issued to the Press, “ has of late caused great concern to the insuran’ce companies, and for this reason the master builders maintain that all classes of buildings during the course of construction ioquire much more adequate inspection at the hands of the municipal auth 'idties than they receive at present, liepresentations to this end were made to the City Council some time ago, bill as they failed to bear fruit the master builders are now giving the matter full publicity in the hope that the corporation authorities will be-induced to take appropriate action. “ The chief aim of tbe master builders in combating tlie prevalent and dangerous practice of faulty dwelling construction,” the statement adds, “is to secure registration whereby only qualified.members will be recognised as (it to build dwellings of which the stability and method of construction afford reasonable safety to the lives ol the inmates.”
