Intoxicated Driver.

LICENSE CANCELLED AND FINED £2O. MASTER-TON, Sep. 21. John Hoffman, of Tinui,was charged at the Magistrate’s Court to-day with having been in charge of a motorcar on August 12 while he was in a state of intoxication. Hoffman and a man Hotel, were found on Blairlogie Hill asleep in the car, in which was a case named Bird, licensee of the Tinui of whisky. The defence was that both Hoffman and Bird had had only two drinks each during the day and that the bottles in the case contained peppermint and cloves, not whisky. Defendent'was fined £2O. His license was suspended until the expiration of the present period, May 31 next, and he was prohibited from taking out another license for a further twelve months. Mr J. Miller, S.M., was the Magistrate.
