\By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) FOLLOWING HER FATHER. LADY ALICE FERGUSSON PLANS TRIP, AUCKLAND', Sept. 21. Mr A. War brick, chief Government' guide at Rotorua, lias just completed arrangements to take the Lady Alice Ferguswon and a party through the IJrewera Country early next month. Her Excellency will leave Rotorua on October 2nd. for Ruatahuna, where she proposes to spend two or three days before going, on to Lake Waikaremoana. Cars will convey the party a portion of the journey, and horses will be utilised beyond Ruatahuna. The trip is expected to extend over ten days, Napier being reached by car from Lake House about October 12th. Many years ago her Excellency’s father, .Lord Glasgow, attempted this journey, but was'unable to get beyond Ruatahuna. The Lady Alicp Fergusson hopes to complete it, and with a little good fortune in the weather should have an interesting trip.
FARMER FOUND DEAD. CARTERTON, Sept. 22. Jins Arthur Taplin, a well-known Carrington farmer, left home yesterday afternoon to go .round the sheep, and not returniiig, search parties were out ‘fill night, and they found his body in a patch of scrub early this morning, with a revolver clasped in his hand. The body was brought in for an Inquest. Deceased was aged 49 years and leaves a widow and family of eight, the, .eldest being 23 and the ■youngest'9. I'';!"
STORES FOR BYRD EXPEDITION. 1 AUCKLAND, Sept.. 23. A large quantity of stores for the Byrd Antarctic expedition is on board the steamer Port Hiihtoiy which reached Auckland from New York this morning. The stores include 522 cases of kerosene, 270 drums' of gasolene and 800 cases of gasolene for the expedition’s aeroplanes: 100 barrels of lubricating oil and three cases’of lubricating grease; also five tons of other stores, including foodstuffs, such as frozen livers, turkeys and chickens; as .well as a quantity of cigarettes, tobacco, clothing, and other comforts. 1 The stores will be landed at Port Chalmers, the New Zealand base ol the expedition.
MISAPPROPRIATION CHARGE. WHANGAREI, Sept. 22. '■ At the Police Court this morning before Mr E. L. Dliimp, J.P., a prominent local business man, whose name was ordered to bo suppressed, was charged that on divers dates between July Ist and July 31st thisyear, he did fail to account for £235 11s Id, the property of the Whangarei Co-operative Terminating Building Society. Accused, who was remanded till October Ist, was .admitted bail or; self of £250 and two sureties of £250 each.

Judgment was entered foi plaintiff for the amount claimed with costs. •"
