FOOTBALL.
WEST COAST RUCBY UNION. The executive meeting of tho above took place last evening at Greymoutb. A letter was received from Westport Technical School thanking the Union for its donation towards the school team’s expenses on its Greymouth visit.
Letters were received from Southland and Canteiljury Unions thanking the Coast Unions for hospitality extended to their teams. A. copy of the Canterbury letter was ordered to In forwarded to Hokitika. ■
A letter of thanks was ordered to lie forwarded to tho Canterbury I’nion and to Mr Britten for kindnesses extended to the junior reps. The Union’s congratulations wore ordered to be forwarded to the Grey School and the Junior Reps., for their meritoriuos wins last Saturday. It was decided to challenge Reefton for the Dittman Shield, the match to bo played next Saturday—if the challenge is accepted, and the Grey team to leave at 12 noon under the management of Mr Mclntosh. The Cup for a junior seven-a-side tourney, presented by Mr Saraty, was received. It’ was decided to call for nominations from all junior teams in Westland and Inangahua to compete, in a seven-a-side tourney for the Cup, to he held at Kumara on Gth October, and nominations to close with the Secretary of the Most Coast Rugby Union on Tuesday next 25th. inst. The Excelsior Club were declared winners of Citizens’ Senior Shield, this Club having thus won both senior competitions for two seasons in succession.
