ROSS NEWS.
(By ‘ Arencc.’)
What appeared to be a small cyclone swept through the lower end of Ross this morning, uprooting pine trees, tearing oil roofs of sheds, and depositing them in a paddock some hundreds of yards away, and stripping tlie rails off the footbridge at Donnelly’s Creek. A very rough morning is being experienced, rain falling in torrents. It is with regret that tve learn that Mr McNalib, Postmaster, is leaving for Wellington shortly, where ho will take up his duties in tho Telegraph Department.
Ross plays Rimu at football at Cass Square, on Saturday next, the last game a fortnight ago being a draw. The Fire Brigade Rail is being held here this Friday, September 21st.
Mrs 11. Osmers, of Hokitika, is visiting Ross for a few days. Mr N. Jones, of the Post and Telegraph staff, Tuatapere, is at present home on his annual leave.
