Tbo Rest in the first innings made GO3 for 8 declared (Hendien 174, Sutcliffe 139, Ames not out 53). Lancashire in the second innings made 21G (Ernest Tyldcsley (13). Freeman took 4 for 75. The Rest won by an innings and 91 runs. It was certainly vivid batting. Uiapman realised Lancashire was well beaten and obviously gave orders to hit or get out. Hcndren and Ames added 179 in Go minutes. Hendrcn bit Jddon for four sixes and took fortylive from eleven balls. Incidentally Sutcliffe and Ernest Jyklcslcy readied three thousand, joining Hendren, Woolley and Mead. This is easily a record, tlie previous best'being three—Abel, Pry and Tyldesley in 1901.
