AMUSEMENTS.

EVERYBODYS PICTURES. “ THE 8008 ” WEDNESDAY. .ho magic word “youth,” with all the dreams and heartaches it suggests, best describes “The Doob,” the William Wellman production for Motro-Goldwyn-Ma.yer, which will come to the Princess Theatre oil Wednesday. In the cast of this new picture are Gertrude Olmsted, George K. Arthur, Joan Crawford and Charlie Murray. The picture is youth personified, for not only is the theme of the story based on youthful adventure, but the cast is practically composed of players all in the springtime of life; and it was directed by one of the youngest directors in the industry. In was adapted for the screen from the novel “Don Quixote, Junior,” by George Scarborough and Annette Wcstbay. Peter Good, around whose comical figure much of the action of the picture revolves, is a youthful dreamer who sets out, like the famous Don Quixote of fiction, to right the wrongs of his own little world, and incidentally, to win back his sweetheart, who has succumbed to the charms of a city trifler. Romance and adventure ad lib await him, and his story is told with an expressibly delightful charm. A spine-chilling vigil in a country graveyard, a sensational fight with bootleggers, mysterious figures at midnight in a deserted mill, a motor chase, and a smashing climax, provide exception thrills and humour In this brilliant new comedy. In the leading role George K. Arthur reaches the top of the cinematic ladder as a comedian. Hilariously funny, he is yet at times a pathetic figure in his characterisations of unsophisticated youth. Gertrude Olmsted is a worthy supporting .player, and adds to the enviable reputation sbe already has made. Others in the cast are Joan Crawford, Charlie Murray and Antonio D’Algy. A topical and comedy will complete the display. On Friday: “The Wolf’s Trail.”
