EVERYBODYS PICTURES. “MOCKERY”—TO-NIGHT. The screen’s most gifted character player, J.oii Chancy, in “Mockery” will be the attraction at Everybody’s Pictures to-night. In the. past, picturegoers have seen Lon Chaney in a largo number of Motro-Goldwyn-May-er productions including “Ho Who Gets Slapped,” “The Unholy Three,” “The Itoad to Mandalay,” Tell it to the Marines” and “Mr Wu.” In these pictures ho appeared respectively as a circus clown; a ventriliquist and inn-keeper; a Marino Sergeant; and a Chinese Mandarin. Now ho appears :iu something different—a typical llussiaii peasant. This new picture is “Mockery,” now showing at the Princess Theatre, a story based on the days of lied Terror in Russia. His peasant rolo is portrayed with striking realism and many vicissitudes overtake him when ho aids a young Countess, whom lie learns to love, before a dramatic termination is reach od. Ricardo Cortez has the rolo of Dimitri, a young White Russian Officer, which lie plays with outstanding merit, while Barbara Bedford appears as the beautiful young Countess for whose love both the peasant, Sergei, and the officer, Dimitri, fight a strange and grim battle. Others appearng ing in the cast are Emily Fitzroy. Mack Swain and Charles Puffy. Benjamin Christensen ably directed “Mockery,” -including' in' the presentation many’ awe inspiring scenes and abundant incident of blood-tingling nature.
Supporting this big attraction tonight furthor chapters of the popular “Collegians” will ibe presented, also a good comedy. On Wednesday next a big comedy hit “The Boob,” starring George K. Arthur, Gertrude Olmsted, Joan Crawford and Charlie Murray.
