Orders have now been issued by the Nationalist commnaders to exterminate the Sbantnngese, and to show no quarter. Tlie fighting is reported to lie unusually severe.
The northern coinamnder, Wangchi, one of the highest in the Shantung army, was killed in battle while unsuccessfully defending Leichuang. Chang Cluing Chung, the erstwhile military governor of Shantung and supreme commander of the rebel Shantung forces, is reported to be beading for the coast in readiness for flight to the neutral port df Dairen.
