I SliliAßEli—dONES. | A quiet weddjng took place at A|l j Saints Church at Hokitika on Monday, when Miss Ethel Mae Jones, formerly of Hokitika. Imt latterly of Wellington and Greymouth, was united in holy matrimony to Mr James Shearer, of Harihari. The brine, w|io was given away by |ier brother-in-law, M l ' A. Thorpe, was attired in palest pink georgette, simply made, with lace yoke and side drapery, caught up with a brilliant ornatqent. ljer veil of pale tinted pink was lic|d in place with a coronet of orange blossom, and she carried q bouqpet of palest blooms to tone. She was attended by her niece, Miss Melva Thorpe, who was dressed in heliotrope, crepe do chine, with tulle bandeau on her hair, and carried a dainty posy of hejio cineraria, prjmulas, and lias. Little Burnburn McDougail, of Greymouth, was flower girl, her diess being of primrose crepe do chine, with apricot trimmings. She wore a head La|u| of silver leaves and tjny flowers and carried a basket of flowers in apricot and primrose shades. Mi' U. Shearer attended his brother as test man. Later relatives and a few friends were entertained at l’reston’s tea rooms. Mr am! Mrs Shearer later left for Christchurch, the bride wearing a green crepe do chine frock, with navy velour coat and small ribbon bat.
LARCOMBE—McDIARMID. ) A very pretty and interesting wedding was celebrated on Wednesday, September 5, at St. Patrick’s Church, Kimiaru. by the Rev. Father Lordan, when Vera, the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs A. McDiarmid, of Dillmans Road, Kumnra, was united in the bonds of matrimony to Charles Frederick] youngest soil of Mr pnd Mrs W.
Lareombo, of Shakespeare Sjnpet, Grey-1 moutji. The bride, w)io entered thp church on the arm of her father, was neatly attired in a bois-dc-rose repp costume and hat to tone. She Wore a fox fur and carried a white ivorycovered prayer book, the gift of her brother. She was attended by her sister Myrtle, as bridesmaid, who wore a. green repp frock and hat to match, also a fox fur. Mr Charles Wallet t, of Uroymouth, was best man. On the party leaving the church, tho “ Wed- 1 ding March” was played by .Mrs.). Devescovi (sister of the bridegroom). After the ceremony the . guests were entertained at tho residence of Mr and Mrs fi red Barettn, of “ The Terrace,” where tho usual toasts were honoured and many congratulations wore received and best wishes extended to the bride and groom for their luturc happiness. The young couple were the recipients of many costly and useful prescuts. Mr and Mrs Lnrcombe will in future reside in Uroymouth.
MILLAR—NEAME. A wedding of considerable interest in the 'Waikato was celebrated on July istli at Holy Trinity Church, Tauranga, by lte.v. Hall, when Caroline Nenme, fifth daughter of M,r and Mrs Frank Nenme. of Turawlmte, lvumara,' was married to Andrew -Millar, youngest son of Mr and Mrs T. -Millar, of Kilsyth, Scotland. Tho bride who was given away by Mr T. Y. Cameron wore a charming frock ■- 1 ' silver lame and ivory georgette and a long silver embroidered tulle veil and circlet of orange blossoms. She was attended as bridesmaids by .Miss Betty Ryder who wore wistaria georgette and pale primrose lace, and Miss Mary Ncamc fsister of the bride) wearing palp pink crepe-de-chine and biscuit-coloured lace. The flower-girl, little Patty Drown, wore shell pink crepe de chine. Mr Jack Blaekie attended the groom as best man, and Mr Charles Randle as groomsman. After the ceremony the guests assembled at tho Star Hi” where tho wedding breakfast given by Mrs Brown was prepared. The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a delicately wrought pendant in gold aim pearls, and to the maids a string of pearls. To the flower girl was given a gold armlet. The bride’s gift to the groom was a diamond ring. After the reception the happy couple left by car for Stratford where they will make their home. Mrs'Millar travelled in a smart bioge tailored ensemble suit. The very many friends of the bride in Kumara will wish the young people every happiness and prosperity.
