THE McCARTEN CASE. SPORTING WRITER’S COMMENT. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) (Received this day at 10.40 a.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. 12. Tho “Sun” sporting writer declares that Me'Carten’s disqualification smacks of panic and injustice, and then proceeds to twit 'the A..1.C. Stewards for laxity in other directions. Ho adds that the most that could be charged against McCarten was that while passing the field lie momentarily slackened the reins, whereupon Limerick promptly made for the rails. Anyhow there' was no motive warranting extreme punishment behind what happened.
