New Zealand impel is totalled £28,893.753. and exports £43,076.394 compared with £29,105,373 and £35,782.695 respectively, for the corresponding period of 1927. Imports during August, 1928, amounted to £4,311,777 and exports £2.035,202, compared with £3,054,873 and £2,259,382 in August last year.
LIQUOR UNTRUE TO LABEL. AUCKLAND, Sept. 12. John G. McGregor, licensee of the Rising Sun Hotel, was fined £SO for selling liquor untrue to label. Security of appeal was fixed at the amount of the fine, plus costs and ton guineas. A decision in three other charges was reserved, pending the appeal. Magistrate Mr-Keen said there was no evidence of a conspiracy as alleged by the accused.
SUPREME COURT. OBEY MOUTH. Sept, 12. Justice Adams presided at tlie Supreme .Court to-day. There was only one criminal case. James Nash, aged 23, pleaded guilty to indecent assault on a little gild at the pictures. A probation' application was rctused and he was sentenced to reformative detention not exceeding three years. Peter McDonald appeared for sentence for breaking, entering and theft of mutton birds from a fishmonger s shop. Probation was granted for two years conditional on his taking out n prohibition order and paying the prosecution costs.
