EXPERT VIEW OF WEST COAST. By Telegraph—Press Assn., Copyright. CHRISTCHURCH, Sept, 10." That the paper making industry could he esta bished in New Zealand, is Hie opinion of Mr A. F. Richter, an export from America, who has spent some time on the West Coast making investigations. “I am fully satisfied,” ho said to a reporter to-day, ‘‘that New Zealand has all the necessary wood supply. She has available power and a sufficient market at her doors to justify the establishment of pulp and'paper’manufacturing plants in the country. lam convinced also. that, the production costs of the manufactured product will he in keeping with the costs in other countries engaged in the manufacture of similar grades of paper. I am quite certain that capital may be easily enlisted on the establishment of the enterprise for the production of paper, in New Zealand.” Mr Richter added that he was not in favour of establishment to an oversize limit, but urged that a beginning bo made with a moderate capacity mill producing the grades in greatest demand in the country itself.
