To-morrow, the first passenger ship to ho equipped with triple expansion turbines leaves Newhaven on her maiden voyage to Dieppe. Slie is calling Worthing and is of 2300 tons. She has been specially built for tbe cross-Channel service. Glass-enclosed lounge decks are a feature of the Worthing, which also has two restaurants, twelve cabins do luxe, and exceptionally large sleeping saloons and drawing rooms for women passengers.
Tho vessel cost roughly £200,000. At full sjiced she steams- 25 knots, which makes her one of the world’s fastest) passenger ships.
HENDREN’S 3000 RUNS. RUGBY, Sept. 4. Tho honour of being the first batsman to complete. 3000 runs for the season, the first since 1925, was gained by E. Hendren in .the match Yorkshire v. Mnrylebone Cricket Club at Scarborough to-day.
