(By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) THE COUNCIL. WELLINGTON, September G. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. yesterday. The lapsing of the term of appointment of Hons. Snodgrass and Mclntyre and their re-appointment for a further term was announced by Governor-Gen-eral’s message. The two Councillors were sworn in.

Further leave of absence until 12tli September was granted Sir R. Stout on account of illness. Tlireo days leave of absence wore granted to Hons. Triggs and Carrington on account of illness. -no London and New Zealand Hank Limited Hill was received from the House and read a first time.

Thames Horongh Loans Rate Adjustment Hill was put through the final stages and passed without amendment. The Council adjourned at 2.40 p.m. until to-day.
