N.Z. TEAM RETURNING. Australian Press Assn.—United Service (Received this day at 9 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 4. The New Zealand Olympic team sailed in the Ruahine. Mr Amos interviewed, said a British team of athletes was likely to tour New Zealand in the near future, though nothing had yet been settled.
TICN MILE RECORD. SYDNEY, Sept. 5. Alleyn Gainsford broke the ten miles running championship record of New South Wales covering the distance in fifty-three minutes thirty-one and three-fifths seconds, lowering the record by thirty-one and two-fifths seconds. AMATEUR ATHLETICS. WELLINGTON, Sept. 3. At to-night’s meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association a cable received that morning by Mr S. C. Berridgc, secretary of the Olympic Council,, from Air H. Amos, manager of the Olympic team, was read. It stated that, the English and Canadian athletes which it was proposed to bring to New Zealand were not available. In view of this definite refusal, it was decided on the motion of Air E. A. Guy. to ask Air C. G. Krogness, Vmeriean representative of the Council the New Zealand Amateur Athletic A, ••ociation,, to make inquiries into tlm -possibility of a tour by a team | of three athletes, preferably one sprint- I or, one middle distance and one field events man. The names brought up in the discussion were Borah. Osborne, | Palm, Ray and Knelt.
