LATE LOCALS.

The 'funeral of the late Mr William Fleming, of Kokatahi, took place today, leaving the residence Kokatahi at 11 o’clock. There was a very large assembly of mourners from all parts of the district. The Rev. Mr Vickers conducted tho service at tho graveside.

Advice has Ikxmi received of the death last, Saturday a.t Christchurch of Mrs MeGuignn, wife of Mr J. MoGuigan a well-known teacher, formerly of this district. Deceased was formerly a matron of Otira Hospital (Nurse Gillespie). Tho death took place yesterday of Mrs Egglcton, a former well known resident of Kumara over a long period of years. Deceased was a native of England and 80 years of age, coming to New Zealand CO years ago and had resided in Hokitika, Maori Gully and Kumara during most of that period. She bad boon ailing for many years. Deceased leaves a family of four daughters (Mrs H. W. Sandlc, ol Rotorua, Mrs (Miller, of Dannevirke. Mrs Goldfinch, of Palmerston North, and Airs Newlands, of Afasterton), and four sons (William, of Bunnythorpe, ALu-tin, of "Wellington; Frank, of Kawliia, and Clement, of AVangnnui).

Dr Eugene G. Lynch, F.R.C.5. (Edinburgh), who at present is on the staff of the Royal Sussex Hospital, Brighton, England, has been appointed by the ‘Wellington Hospital Board as Surgical Resident Registrar at Wellington Hospital at a commencing salary of £lO9 per annum. Dr Lynch is a native of- Hokitika, and graduated at Otago University, and was for-a time House Surgeon at the Cambridge Hospital and also at the Rotorua Hospital. In 1926 he went to England and took his degree as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons.
