THE POPE'S MESSAGE. (Australian Press Association.) SYDNEY, Aug. 30. Cardinal Ceretti, Papal Delegate fo the Eucharistic Congress, has deliverer a message from the Pope to the people of Australia, in which His Holmes? states “Toll my far-distant, but well beloved, children in Australia 1 shall follow the progress of the Congress dm by day, and shall rejoice with them for the glory which will redound L the Sacred Host, and for the-graces which will be showered down, with abundance, on this beloved land and on its sons and daughters.” WET.COM E CEIIEMOVY. BRILLIANT STB EFT SPECTACLE SYDNEY Aug. 30. An enormous crowd of people lined the route from the wharf to Sail t Mary’s Cathedral in order <o welcome the Papal Delegation to the Kiichari? tic Congress. There was a brilliant spectacle when the dignitaries, ‘rom all corr.iries. a blaze of colour, walked to one hundred motor cars, and were driven slowly through the streets of the city, lined with Catholic school ihildren who were waving the Aiistr. ' un aiul Papa! (lags. They w-re driven to the Cathedral, where enormous crowd; were blessed by Card mil Cer-tti, from the steps, before entering the edifice for the “To Dcuin” Service. This service was a most impressive one front beginning to end, every member of the Australian Hierarchy and many from overseas, being present. The service was broadcast by amplifiers, and every word of it ••• as plain lv heard by the crowds who v ere un able to enter.
