C.x'uet and Bnignon eliminated Williams and Washburn, 4 -45, (5—4, (s—l. NEW YORK, August 29. Wiui three Australian teams in the quarter-finals it seemed to lie indicated particularly on their showing ol the past two days that the doubles championship ot America, would he taken out of the country this year. Hawkes ami Patterson’s victory over Jones and Ingraham was not won with difficulty and the Australians would literally have overwhelmed their opponents hut for the 'fact that the former were erratic and inaccurate. They were netting frequently and their play was spotty, but when it was good it was brilliant. The terrific heat affected tho pi a vers ol both teams. In the doubles match, Cummings and Moon v. Ryan and Allison. Allison and Cummings were tiring badly towards the end.
