WELLINGTON, Aug. 30. Ai? Coates has received word from the directors of Sydney Hospital, that at their request, the aviators in then flight to- New Zealand, will carry fnui Union Jack, Australian, New Zealand and' Royal Air Force, hearing the signatures of Kiugsford Smith and Ulm, which, with official messages of goodwill will ho enclosed in a package addressed to the Governor-Genera . Four other flags, will he frosted hack after the flight to Sydney Hospital. The idea is that all flags should he sold and the proceeds divided, halt to Svdnev and half to the four city hospitals'of New Zealand. It is hoped sufficient money may he raised to endow a “Southern Cross” Red in each of the five hospitals. Mr Coates states Sydney Hospital has been informed that the New Zealand Government will he pleased to cooperate. I am sure, Mr Coates s,ul ’ that the proposal will meet wit 1 very enthusiastic and practical response as far as New Zealand is concerned. It will afford a unique oppo - tunity to secure these (lags as mementos of the first air flight over thTasman and the completion «»l the „ir chain from Britain to New Zealand.
