Australian Px-css Assn.—United Service THE MARRIAGE LAW. (Received this day at 10.15 a.m.) LONDON, August 28. A case, possibly lending to the amendment of the law regarding the degrees of relationship in which marriage is illegal, was decided by the Scottish Court of Criminal Appeal, when a man married his deceased wife’s niece. Both wore convicted of incest.
The Judge pointed out the law did not permit a man to many bis deceased wife’s sister or daughter. Ho hoped the case would direct public attention to the anomaly. The accused, in view of their ignorance of the law, were admonished and released. .MILLION TRANSPORT MEN*. LONDON. August 27. Terms have provisionally been agreed upon for the amalgamating of the Transport and General Workers’ bnion of three hundred thousand members, and the Workers’ Union, of a hundred and fifty thousand members. This is the first step in the formation of a Federation of one million workers, embracing all the railwaymen and the transporters. TRANSFER OF GOLD. LONDON, August 27. The Prince of Wales, who will be accompanied by his brother, flic Duke of Gloucester, will leave London lor his tour of East Africa on September (sth. It is understood no definite itinerary will be followed. Their Royal Highnesses will go out hv way of Egypt. After the journey through East Africa, they will proceed through Northern Rhodesia and thence southwards to Capetown, from which point they will sail for home. it is anticipated the Royal travellers will be back in London early next January.
