BURGLAR OR JOKER. THE HAGUE, July 10. The Rotterdam police have just had presented to them a puzzle which it looks as if they will have some difficulty in solving. To their “found property” department was recently brought a bundle of what a stockbroker would call “scrip” of some considerable value, which had been discovered in a hollow tree. Investigation proved that the parcel contained, besides the stock certificates, several wills of members of a family which is known to be travelling abroad. A visit to the home of the owners j revealed no trace of burglary, which I would suggest that either some extras ordinarily clever thief had been interrupted in his work and left the parcel in the tree to avoid detection or that someone with a peculiar sense of humour who had been trusted by the family had done it. There is no suspicion attached to the person who took the parcel to the police, and the mystery seems at present to be an insoluble one..
