Lowe, the famous English runner, who announced bis retirement--1 lorn the track although only 26 years old, lias boon running in active competition against the cream of the world’s athletes for seven or eight years.

At the recent Olympic Games at Amsterdam lie not only retained his Olympic title, hut revealed even better form than at tlie previous Paris meeting. He won the 800 metres in Imiti 51 -I-ssee. which is an Olympic record. This ho followed up by winning the 800 metres at Berlin last Sunday, beating Dr Otto Pollsser, the famous German runner, in linin 51 l-ssec. This was in revenge for his defeat by Dr Peltzer in the famous race at Stamford Bridge, when both beat the existing world’s record for this distance. This triumph marks the end of Lowe’s great career on the track.
