Lala Lajrat Hai, a Hindu extremist, in Punjab, retorted most violently to Tom Johnston’s recent criticism of the Swarajists: “Let Johnston not talk ol Socialism. Tt is a blasphemy in his own mouth. He and his party aie only disguised wolves who want to help other nations into subjugation. India has ceased to take British Labour leaders seriously.”

Ihe Aithbishop of Canterbury and Free Church Council led the movement which included several distinguished American clerics at. present in England.
L. 55 BODIES. [“ Tho Times ” Service.] LONDON, Aug. 26. The “Times” correspondent at Riga states that Moscow has instructed tho naval authorities to make the transfer of the L. 55 bodies a solemn ceremony. A British merchantman will be admitted to Kronstadt roadstead where the transfer of tho coffins will take place in the presence of the Baltic Red Fleet. A guard of honour composed of Red sailors will attend. Soviet flags will be lowered during the transfer.
ATTEMPTS TO SALVAGE. LONDON, Aug. 26. Lloyds have completed contracts with two Dutch salvage companies for a fresh attempt to recover a hoard of gold and silver on the frigate Lutino which was wrocked off the Dutch coast in 1799.
MOTOR MAKERS MOVE. LONDON, August 25. Mr A. Macaulay, President of the American National Automobile Chamber of Commerce, has arrived in London to arrange for a round table conference with the European motor manufacturers, with a view to instituting European-American co-operation, instead of cut-throat rivalry.
