PROPOSED AIR SERVICE
(United Service.)
{Received this day at 10.15 a.m.! LONDON, August 24. A German company’s proposal to the Commonwealth to subsidise an Austra-lian-New Zealand flying boat service has aroused interest in London. Imperial Airways always understood Australian companies desired control at their own end of the Anglo-Australian-New. Zealand services. If Australian companies were not prepared to avail themselves of any government subsidy, no difficulty would be offered to London organising an All llritish service for Australia, New Zealand and Tasmania. Any claim that flying boats possessed a cruising range dtf 2,000 miles carrying fifteen passengers, could easily he tested by standard practice in England and Europe; where planes witn fifteen passengers or equivalent in freight, had to refuel every 500 or GOO miles. Some of the larger German routes carried- fewer passengers at higher fares.
