WEST COAST CHAMPIONSHIPS. The competitions in the West Coast golf tournament fared worse yesterday in the matter of the weather than 011 the opening day, and the only games placed were those in the championship section, play having to be abandoned about 1 p.m. for the day. The other matches set down were cancelled. Following are the results of the games played : (MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP. Results of the first round for the men’s championship were:— Park (W) beat Sliadick (W) 6 up and 5. McCarthy (G) beat Lints (W) 3 up and 2. Sime (T) beat Lovell (W) 5 up amt <*. A. K. Smith (G) heat Wild (G) 7 up and 6. LA DIES’ CHAMPIONSHIP. ills Slee (W) beat Miss Leggoe (R) 4 up and 3. Mrs Kerr (Timaru) beat Mrs Mullan (W) 7 up and 6. .Miss Tennent (G) beat .Mrs Cunningham (G) 3 up and 2. Mrs Wilson (W) beat (Miss Moore (11) 1 up, the game going to the 22nd hole. DANNEVIRKE GAMES. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) DANNEVIRKE, August 23. Dannevirke annual ladies’ golf tourney concluded to-day. Mrs Collinson (Palmerston North) winning the Southern Hawke’s Bay championship for the second time in succession. She defeated Miss Gaisford (Marton) in the final bv two up, after a brilliant game’. Mrs Spiers (Napier) won the Pataoraite Handicap, defeating (Miss Drummond (Dannevirke), in the final, after a ■,closely fought contest. The match had been carried to the twenty-eighth hole.
