TEACHERS’ REPRESENTATIONS. WELLINGTON, Aug. 21. Four questions of importance to teachers, namely, salaries, superannuation, smaller classes and the regulations, were brought before tlie Minister of Education by a deputation from the Executive of tiie N.Z. Educational Institute to-day. Mr Wright, the Minister, said that one factor seemed to lie clear. It was that any new basis of salary would increase the cost of education. However, it seemed to him that the present system had served its purpose. It was now practically obsolete. Any assistance that flic Institute could give in drawing up a new scheme would be welcomed. Tlie Minister thought the Government would have to strengthen the Superannuation Fund. It was his aim to bring all tlie classes down to forty. He bad been striving, as far as possible, to give classes separate rooms. It should be tlieir aim to make the primary school system as perfect as possible. AN ARCHBISHOP’S VIEWS. CHRISTCHURCH, August 28. In an address to parents at the Y.M.C.A. yesterday. Archbishop Julius said : “If I were to have my life over aga.in, I would never have those drab Sundays of my days. 'I would take mykji'ihlren,, not send them, but take them, to an early service and spend, the later portion of the day at recreation, at a game of cricket. Never allow a child to be cramped for recreation, and above all, show him you have a keen interest in his activities.”
