Australian Press Assn.—United Sendee AIRMAN WILKINS. NEW YORK, Aug. 20. A report circulated at Los Angolas states that Wilkins is engaged to marry Miss Susan Bennett, an Australian actress, who is now playing in New York. This was referred to Wilkins, who said : “Wo are very good friends, hut the matter of an engagement in marriage has never been discussed or suggested, and the rumour is untrue.’’ ITALIA RECORDS. LONDON, August 20. Professor Beliounek, the Czechoslovak member of the Italia expedition, in his final article on the Italia’s flight says: “My special apparatus for the Italia consisted of a contrivance for measuring the number of ions and the electrical property of the air, and of apparatus for measuring radio-activ-ity, which hitherto had not been attempted in the Tolar regions. A laboratory was constructed on the bridge of the steamer Citti di Milano. It fuetioned only for a few days. I saved almost all of the records of the measurements made. I found the electrometer after the crash. I installed it on an ice cake. An amber cigarette holder, rubbed with some felt taken from a motor cover, served the purpose of an extra battery. I thereforeworked for a week. Thereafter tlie shifting of the ice compelled our departure. Only General Nobile has the right to speak of the splendid work of Malmgrcn and Ponlremoli, or to publish the other seientifiic results of the expedition.”
