(By Telegraph—Pf«r Press Association.) SUPREME COURT SENTENCES. NAPIER, Aug. 14. ' Prisoners sentenced at the Supreme Court were: Henry Edward Duncan Phillips, false pretences, 12 months’ gaol. George Pony, sheep-stealing, two years’ reformative detention. Win. Francis Thomas Bundle, bank clerk, theft of money, two years’ reformative. Frederick Burns, theft of beer, one month’s gaol. FOUND DEAD. TAIHAPE, Aug. 14. The body ol a well-known farmer, Patrick Murphy, aged 56, bachelor, was found in a paddock on his own farm at Ohutu, four miles from Taihape, yesterday, and a loaded gun alongside. He was shooting a stray dog. At the inquest tills morning a verdict of death by natural causes and heart failure was returned. MR COATES AT AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND, Aug. 13. For the purpose of meeting officials of the Reform Party in Auckland, the Prime Minister (Mr Coates) arrived by the Limited express fronr Wellington this morning. He was greeted at the railway station by several of his Party friends. Subsequently a conference having relation to the forthcoming General Election was held at the Grand Hotel. Mr Coates did not come to receive deputations or to grant interviews. His visit as purely of ai private nature. Ho left to-night for AVellington. WOMAN’S SUICIDE. MASTRETON, August It. An inquest was held to-day concerning the death of Gertrude Hilda Roberts, a married' woman, who was found dead on Monday afternoon in the washhouse of tier residence Mastorton, with her head in a gas oven, and tlie gas turned on. The evidence showed that deceased had apparently also attempted to hang herself with a rope from the washhouse ceiling, hut the rope broke, and in falling she partially fractured her skull. It appeared as if she then walked to the gas oven.
The Coroner 'found that deceased came by her death from the effects of gas poisoning, deceased having previously attempted to hang herself while mentally depressed.

A well-known settler, Harry Cornelius, was working amongst sheep on hi: property at Mangahao, and was handling one when he was knocked over inti: a gully, and dislocated his thigh.
AN IMPERSONATOR. AUCKLAND, Aug. 14
Robert 'William Gunter, who was deported from Sydney, after serving sfx months’ imprisonment for false pretences, he having posed as Sir Robert Gunter, Engineer to the London General Omnibus Coy. arrived hero by the Marania this morning. “There was no order for my deportation from Australit,’’ lie said, in an interview. “J. was about to write the story of my life for the Australian newspapers, when I was ‘shanghaied’ on to this steamer. I had just been offered an important position as the Assistant Manager of a Bus Company, too,” he added.
Gunter said ho was “completely broke” and he was going to try to get hack to England. * In Auckland, in April, 1927, he was sentenced to imprisonment for obtaining money by falsely representing that ho was Surgeon Commander Joy, of the Royal Navy.
DUNEDIN POST’ OFFICE BURGLED DUNEDIN, August 14.
Thieves entered the small branch Post Office in Princess Street last evening, by forcing open tlie front door. A small sale was broken into and the con_ tents were strewn about the floor. About thirty shillings worth of coppers and also stamps valued at between £l4 or £ls were abstracted. The Postmistress discovered the robbery when she came to work at 8.30 this morning.
SHIPPING FATALITY. DUNEDIN, August 14
Robert Kean, boatswain of tlie steamer Huntingdon, who was admitted to the hospital yesterday with both legs fractured and head injuries, received through falling into the hold of the vessel, died from injuries this morning. An inquest will be held to-morrow morning.
