— Lacking in Great I’j.ays. I do not perceive any strong reason why the public, however enlightened or benighted, should make a special hobby of the British theatre. After all, in two hundred years it has produced oidy three plays that have stood the practical test of time: ‘‘The School for Scandal,” ‘‘Tlio Rivals” and “She Stoops to Conquer.” —Arnold Bennett.
