AUCKLAND. Aug. 11
Before an attendance of about 25,000 people, the English Fjeagiie team today defeated Auckland by 20 ixiints to 15. Beautiful conditions prevailed, anil the ground was in good order. A lie 'hind led by 8 points to 3 at half-time, hut tlie better condition of the visitors told its tale in the second spell, when, at stages, their backs revealed their best form. The Engli.-h 1 sicks, however, made many mistakes in handling, and the English forwards were often guilty of glaring obstruction. 'Hie home team’s tackling was spasmodic, the weakness in this department letting the Englishmen through at the critical stage of the game.
