Orchard and Garden Diseases Bill was put through the final stages and passed without amendment. The Council adjourned at 4.1 p.m. until 2.30 p.m. THE HOUSE. , In the House of Representatives, the Summer Time (Local Empowering) Bill introduced by Air Sidey was read a first time. On the presentation of the annual report of the Pensions Department, Mr Holland (Leader of the Labour Party) moved that it he a recommendation to the Government that old age pensions and pensions for the blind he increased this session. This was* defeated by 43 to 18. At the evening session, the Preferential Voting Bill (Air McCombs) was thrown out on the second reading by 36 to 25. The second reading of the Workers’ Compensation Amendment Bill was moved by Mr E.. J. Howard and after a debate was agreed to on the voices and referred to the Labour Bills Committee. The House rose at 11 p.m. till 2.30 p.m. to-day. -
