Australian Press Assn.—United Service BRITAIN AND RUSSIA. OTTAWA, Aug. 5. Mr J. Ramsay MacDonald, Leader of the Opposition in the British Parliament, in an interview on his arrival here from Quebec, declared that the immediate re-establishment of British relations with Russia would be one of the first acts of the Labour Party in Britain were it to return to power.

A message from Winnipeg states that Archbishop Matlieson, Primate of the Anglican Church in Canada, has announced his retirement from the Primacy. He will continue as Bishop of Rupert’s Land. His age 1s seventy-six years. His successor will bo'chosen in September.
