LATE LOCALS

The death occurred at the Christchurch Hospital, on Tuesday afternoon, of Air Gabriel Bergamini, second son of Mrs E. J. Bergamini, Buckley’s road, aged 37 years, and brother of Mr V. M. Bergamini, of Hokitika. The deceased left New Zealand as a member of the Army Service Corps with an early reinforcement. He saw about four years’ service in France and gained the Military Medal. Contracting meningitis, he was invalided home to Cnristcliurch. Though at his work for some time, Mr Bergamini never fullj recovered his health and was for some time an inmate of the Rannerdale Home for returned soldiers at Papanui. He was undergoing an operation when he passed away. For a number of years he was on the stereotyping staff of the Christchurch “Press.” He leaves a widow and two children.
