CHANGING LONDON. CHARING CROSS TO GO. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Aug. 1. The London County Council yesterday approved a scheme of the Ministry of Transport for the construction of a road bridge at Charing Cioss and the removal of the Charing Cross station to the south side of the river. The estimated cost of the scheme, including building on a new embankment on the river front, will be £11,930,000. The Council’s approval is subject to a grant from, the Road Fund of 75 per cent of the actual expenditure being made applicable to the whole scheme. The Council’s liability for its share of the scheme’s cost, and for the reconditioning of Waterloo bridge, which forms part of the scheme, is restricted to £3,219,000. NEWS BY WIRELESS.
