The Hon. D. Buddo has notified the chairman of the National-United Party’s committee at Kaiapoi:—“At a meeting of the National United Party’s committee last week I drew attention to the amount of business I was engaged in, and suggested that after 30 years’ service to the electors the meeting might suggest a candidate to take my place at the forthcoming elections. The meeting, however, was unanimous that I should continue. I now find, however, that business will not allow me to contest the Kaiapoi seat on this occasion, and I most regretfully advise you that I will not be a candidate.
